Benefits of Our Residential Mulch Blowing

Express Mulch Company’s qualified installers are able to transform your yard quickly and neatly without disrupting your neighborhood for days at a time using our cost effective blown in installation methods.

Speed

One of the key advantages of using a mulch blower is the speed of the installation process. Large volumes of mulch can be applied in just minutes, depending on the area and level of precision required.

Even Mulch Distribution

Consistent mulch coverage is essential for the health of your soil and plants while also improving the visual appeal of your landscaping. Mulch helps regulate soil temperature and retain moisture, but uneven or sparse application can lead to nutrient deficiencies or allow weeds to thrive. A uniform layer of mulch ensures plants receive the right nutrients, protects them from temperature fluctuations, retains moisture, and enhances the overall look of your landscape.

Access Hard-to-Reach Areas

Mulch blowers are ideal for distributing mulch in difficult-to-reach areas. They can navigate steep slopes, tight corners, or other challenging terrain with ease. The long hoses can be maneuvered over fences and around obstacles, ensuring mulch is placed exactly where it’s needed.

Precise Application

Mulch blower hoses can be positioned for precise placement, reaching specific areas like garden beds, tree bases, slopes, and edging without the need for excessive labor. The hoses provide flexibility and control, allowing for minimal disruption while covering large areas efficiently.

Minimize Damage to Lawns and Landscaping

Blowing mulch is less disruptive than traditional methods. The lightweight hoses can be moved across lawns easily, reducing the risk of damage from wheelbarrow traffic. Typically, teams of two to three are needed for the job, minimizing foot traffic and potential damage to the landscape. Additionally, mulch blowers leave behind less mess compared to hand mulching, as there is no need for large mulch piles to be moved and redistributed.

Playground Resfurfacing

Playground Resurfacing

Playground mulch does more than just enhance the appearance of a play area; it plays a crucial role in ensuring safety for children enjoying the space. Children’s safety is a top concern during playtime because accidents can happen, and proper mulching creates a soft surface that helps cushion falls, preventing direct contact with hard ground.

Our certified playground mulch also provides essential friction, reducing the risk of slipping.

Benefits of Blown Mulch

  • Faster installations: Rather than relying on multiple workers with wheelbarrows or heavy equipment, our blower trucks can lay down the same amount of material faster saving you on labor costs and down time.
  • Precise and even coverage: Unlike wheelbarrows or heavy equipment, which can distribute mulch unevenly, our truck ensures an accurate and consistent application.
  • A uniform surface: The blower truck creates a consistent playing surface across the entire area providing a more pleasing appearance as well as increasing safety.
  • Access to difficult areas: Hard-to-reach spots are no challenge for our equipment.
  • Less waste and saved time: The blower truck minimizes material waste and reduces installation time.

Choose Express Mulch Company For Your Playground Needs!

We at Express Mulch Company know that our children are the future, which is why we work diligently with all of our school districts, daycares and parks to provide safe quality products at competitive prices. Those savings can then be used in other areas to further enrich our children’s learning experiences. We carry IPEMA certified engineered wood fiber (certified wood chips) for the districts’ playgrounds. By carrying IPEMA certified wood chips, we can assure that the product is free from foreign material and provides a clean safe surface for children to play on. Our certified wood chips meet APA Safety and Impact Guidelines as well. We are in favor of the use of playground wood chips based on the fall test results listed in the US Consumer Products Safety Commissions handbook.

We also provide landscape mulch to our school districts, daycares and parks to help keep the buildings and grounds looking their best. Express Mulch Company carries a variety of landscape mulches to suit your needs. Whether it be a traditional double ground or one of our dyed mulches (nonhazardous, biodegradable dyes used), we can use our blown installation method to help save time and money. We also offer the service of compost to top dress sports fields, which improves the appearance of the grass as well as lessens the impact and possible injury from falls during sports events.

Compost and Soil

Compost & Soil Mixes

What is Compost and how does it work?

Compost is decomposed organic material in a controlled manner. It is 100% organic and typically includes yard waste including leaves, spent plant material and animal waste (manure). By controlling the process of decomposition, it allows the bad organisms to be “cooked” out while increasing the good microorganisms that help feed plants.

Due to the high heat produced by compost piles, it eliminates weeds, insects, insect eggs and larvae. It also allows the right balance of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium which are essential nutrients that form the foundation of productive soil. Compost is the only product that changes both the physical and chemical make up of your soil. It works with both porous and non-porous soils. It holds together porous soils (sandy soils) and helps break up non-porous/compacted soils (clay soils). This allows for better water retention and air circulation. Compost attracts bad chemicals in the soil while replacing them with the good chemicals and microorganisms. Compost acts as a natural filter for your soil. This process aids in less run off of your “good” chemicals while also aiding in less erosion.

The use of compost for top dressing lawns, at a depth of approximately 1⁄2″, has been shown to be most effective when used in conjunction with aerating and over seeding. This is because it allows the compost to penetrate the soil (fill the plugs from aerating) to a depth of approximately 2″. It also acts as a protective blanket and incubator for the seed. This allows less movement of the seed while producing a higher sprout yield. Due to the compost being able to condition the soil under the surface, it allows the grass to grow a deeper, stronger root system. This is important because it enables your grass to better handle the stress of routine mowing and foot traffic. A deeper, stronger root system allows the grass to better handle the stress of droughts, disease and insects. A healthier root system also allows for less room for weed seeds to be able to germinate and grow. Using compost is not only an effective organic product but is also a way for you to contribute to the recycling process. By the creation and use of compost, it keeps unnecessary waste from going into our overcrowded landfills. This allows less greenhouse gases to be released into the atmosphere as well.

Soil and Compost

Why Should I Dress With Compost?

  • Compost smoothes a turf’s surface, enhances thatch decomposition, reduces compaction, and encourages air/water movement into soil.
  • 100% effective rate when used correctly.
  • Allows for faster seed germination, longer root establishment, along with promoting hardy growth.
  • Re-establishes organic matter, and the carbon/nitrogen cycles in the soil.
  • Binds and degrades a variety of chemical contaminants (including synthetic herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers).
  • Properly composted lawns are more disease resistant and due to the microbial action at work within the compost, it binds all the pesticides and herbicides in the top 15 in. of the soil.
  • Compost provides pore space to the ground which improves its ability to retain water. As a result, your lawn will be more drought resistant. Studies show that lawns with the proper organic material incorporated to a depth of 3″ will require 30% less irrigation – more savings!

Remember, by just using compost once you’ve probably done more for your lawn than an entire year of synthetic treatments. Imagine the possibilities if used on an annual basis. Make top dressing with compost part of your yearly lawn treatments with our blown in installation methods and enjoy the results!

Our soil mixes are great for the following applications:

  • Gardens and raised beds
  • New lawns
  • Erosion control
